A couple of years back I went to Poland to visit my family. At first I found it strange that most of the people did not speak english but in time got used to it.The most difficult thing was to travel on your own.I am a coffee drinker and was on my way to a shopping mall with the family and while they did some shopping I sat down at a coffee shop and ordered my kawa, sorry if the spelling's not correct, which was very very strong. The polish dont drink milk like we do-just a little bit of cream as big as your thumb's nail.I then immediately told the waiter in Afrikaans to bring me milk and I forgot about her.Next thing here she was with more milk-I found out that milk was pronounced the same way as in Afrikaans.Amazing I thought. When I tipped the young lady she refused to accept the tip-they dont get tipped in poland! She took it anyway and hid it very fast.I fell in love with Poland and went back again.
The wive and I decided to take a trip to Berlin and we landed on the train from Moscow .The conductor came around and not a sole could speak english! We showed him our tickets and we spoke to eash other with no success.
Just before Berlin the train stopped and the customs crew came around and they checked everyones passports-they stopped at us and all I could understand was Afrique du sud and they laughed at us and we laughed back. The one person then said that he thought that there was only black people in Africa.
